Spetses

Spetses (also known as Spetsai) is a historic island near the Argolic peninsula to the right of the entrance for the Argolic gulf. Distance between Peireus and Ermionida is 1.5 miles and 50 miles from Peiraeus. 3 other inlets are considered part of Spetses , namely Spetsopoula, AgiosIoannis and the Small Bourboulo. Spetses is famous for its ship-owners and merchants who bravely rose up against the Ottomans lead by the famous woman LaskarinaBouboulina. Spestses has managed to retain this romantic indomitable spirit whilst also developing remarkable aesthetics. The town’s coastline is adorned with grand, stone built mansions and vividly colored grand windows belonging once to ruling elite which rose up against the Ottomans.
